MSN disconnects my internet???

When I sign on MSN Messenger, my internet disconnects. I know it's not just on my computer because ALL of my computers lose internet. Could it be the port MSN is using? If so, where do I go to change it...

How do you connect to the net? Are you using a router? What operating systems are on the computers that lose connection?

I am on XP, I am on a D-Link router. One odd thing I noticed is that I can connect to MSN though a proxy and it works fine. My friend, also has the same problem I have. I could continue to use a proxy but that is sum-what of a pain (especially when the proxy is down.)
