Hello,

If a computer is so filled with viruses and malware that I decide to format, does it matter if I do a regular format or quick format?

Thanks

As a rule of thumb, I always do a complete format. That way everything's minty-fresh, never need to second-guess afterwards. Just make sure to backup any important docs/programs/e-mails/etc. first.

Thanks zipulrich...I agree completely. I would love to use the quick format for the time savings, but I'm worried that a nasty might surface from the depths.

I was hoping to find a more technical explanation. I'll look for a site when I get home from work.

Anyone else want to throw in their two cents?

I've had problems after only quick formatting where the solution was to go back and regular format.

....plus, the time savings isn't all that much. Grab a quick sandwich and it'll be over before you know it.

Lol...thanks for the advice. I'll take the safe sandwich option!
