Norton 2005 Scanning Outgoing Email

I am having a lot of trouble with Norton 2005 scanning my outgoing email even though I have configured it to not check outgoing email. When I have large attachements, it times out on my server (Direcway) because of the length of the scan. I've increased the timeout to 5 minutes (max). Then Norton just tells me to resend - which doesn't work. Is there anything I can do to get this catch 22 solved? I tried to research on Norton but just got lost. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi
One way of solving it..(at least it worked for me when I was using norton, not anymore..) was to shut down norton, send what I had to send, then switch norton back again..of course for the period while norton is switched off you have no antivirus, but at least try it so you can clear out if is norton or yr server, let us know the outcome
