I have Road Runner connecting through a D-Link 604 Router. The Router splits off into an X-Box and this computer. For some reason, I get horribly slow internet speeds with it. Some connection tests showed that I get anywhere between 36 kbps to 200 kbps. When I try to use file sharing programs such as eDonkey I get very slow speeds, at best 30 kbps on some downloads, but usually under 10. The same goes for Azureus. I've tried forwarding ports and triggering ports and whatnot, but I can't figure out why my speeds go so slow. Does anyone have any experience with this router or a similar problem? Thanks.

The router shouldn't be slowing down your connection. If you take the router out of the loop and just connect the computer directly do you still have a slow connection? I know you want to use the router I'm just thinking of testing for now.

I realize I'm way late in replying to my own question, but I've been busy and haven't used the internet much in the last months. But now that I am, I'm having the same problems.

I tried taking the router out of the loop and I still have fairly slow download speeds, although they are somewhat better (no more than a total of 40kbs more). In Azureus, I get a total of about 100kbps at best, but usually around 80.

This is with road runner, and I just feel like I should be getting faster speeds. Right now on eDonkey, with the router plugged back in, I'm getting a total of about 30 kbps downloading.

I recently moved from Memphis to Syracuse, and even back in Memphis I had similar problems. Is it Road Runner, or my computer if not the router?
