Can someone else in the house use their dial up modem on the same phone line as my broadband connection at the same time?
If so how is it done?
Thanks in advance

When you say 'Broadband', what exactly are you referring to? A cable connection? A xDSL connection? T-1?

Since your boradband is on a phoneline I'll guess its dsl the question is what type of dsl. Really it doesn't matter a person can use dial-up on the same line that you use dsl no biggy. You could actually use the dsl and a dialup modem at the same time on the same line on one computer if you wanted to as long as you had a line filter, but thats beside the point and off the topic. Why not get a router however and share the dsl line and have the other user share the cost?

Thanks for the info. I have a filter to use on the phone line. will I need another filter for the line running to the dialup modem or will the one filter be enough?
p.s. OTHER PERSON IS A LUDDITE AND DOESNT WANT ADSL (can u believe that!?)

The one filter will be fine and no I can't believe that some one wouldn't want to use dsl over a dialup connection. Plus the fact that the bill could be split would give you both a fast broadband connection for pretty cheap. Oh well let them suffer :)
