If you have Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed, check out the information in Windows XP SP2 Networking Problems Help.

I applied the fix linked to on that page and haven't gotten the "limited or no connectivity" problem, which I was getting constantly, since.

I'm still using SP1, i hate SP2.

My problem is mainly while using AIM. I will be fine for a while, then it seems as if I lose connection, and i'll either have to sign off and back on (in which case i'm fine for a few more minutes) or if i wait for a little while, I regain connection and I get all the messages the people had tried to send during that time.

I hear a lot of people are having this problem, many with a BEFSR41 Linksys router.

I have suscom cable, and I tried calling them. They sent packets to the computer where the cable is connected, and they said everything was fine on their part. The man i talked to suggested that it might be a virus on one of the computers, but I've run adaware, spybot, and pc cillin - housecall on all the computers on the network.

I also notice that connection error when I try to watch streaming video. It will suddenly stop streaming, and try to buffer, and fail.

If you have multiple computers that are on the same network and get the same internet, you most likely have a router.

It has a cable running to the Cable Modem, and then cables running to all the other computers in the house.

If you think it's the router, download and install the latest firmware for it.

You can access downloads for Linksys routers on this page.

Skatepopwar: A router is a piece of hardware which allow two or more computers to be networked together and to share the same internet connection. Some modems are also routers. The BEFSR41 is a stand-alone router the broadband modem and the computers are plugged into.

I tried, but I don't know my routers server password lol

How can I find out and the change it

I tried the standard ip address, the 192 one, and I tried having no user name and password of admin, but its not working.

I know i've done it before, as I used it once to forward ports for a program.
