Favoites -can not add/ organize

Problem adding, accessing, organizing favorites

I can not access or add bookmarks and I can not organize my favoites

On the internet bowser (I use Internet explorer) when I click on favorites two choices appear 1.Add to favorites 2. Organize favorites. But if I click on either one of them nothing happens.

I suspect the problem has to do with Microsoft Antispyware 1.0. I accidentally blocked something, before that it was working fine.

When I go to add/ remove programs and try to uninstall "Microsoft Antispyware"

I have two choices:

1. Repair doesn't work I get: ERROR 1606

COULD NOT ACCESS NETWORK LOCATION &USERPROFILE% \FaVORITES

2. Cancel gives me fatal error 'Fatal error during installation'

What I tried:

1. I downloaded and installed an update of Microsoft Antispyware version

5733 to version 5735

2. I scanned with Microsoft Antispyware, also with Ad-Aware Se

I use Windows XP professional

I really miss bookmarking webpages and accessing/ organizing my bookmarks

Any idea how to fix this problem?

While you're waiting for a real Internet savvy pro to assist you, I'll just insert this link so that to alleviate some of their workload and you can start troubleshooting and hopefully get this issue somewhat resolved.

See this MS article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;886549

Thanks JimmyLoveNYC, I fixed the problem. I am so happy!
It was a bit scary to mess with the registry, but I back it up first just as the article indicated. The directions where clear and easy to follow.
I am very grateful.
Peace
