hi guys! my computer got miss up, so i decided to reformat it, so
i type the following

A:\>format C:

warning: ALL DATA IN REMOVABLE DISK WILL BE LOST

so i typed y or yes

then the message appear it says

trying to recover allocation unit 201,595

and it took several hours i think it stock what should i do did i made something wong?

please anybody knows how to solve this prob. thanks a lot guys

Howdy wartak,
Bad news is your hard drive is most likely damaged. Let's see if Windows can fix this.
At the A:\> type
scandisk C:
Hit Enter.
If the scandisk fails you may have to retry it a few times, and it takes time so be patient. Multiple failures would indicate the drive may need to be replaced.
Post back and let us know how you did.

well thanks for the response! i made it several times and it display the message that scandisk cannot examine drive c:, so do i need to replace the harddrive?what should i do with this one do u think its useless now? thanks for having u guys around. See u then untill nextime.

Hey wartak,
Though the cost of drives has dropped plenty the last few years, I personally hate to let one go without checking everything. If you want, go Here (http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/B7a.html) and download Seagate's drive utility. Creates a bootable floppy and works with most drives.
