My computer win98 w/dvd Pent III did not come with the dvd disk that I need to make my computer recognize the drive again.. Is there anywhere on line that I can go to get the information I need. The place I got it brand new at 3 yrs ago cant help me, well they will if I want to take it in. Unfortunately its a Proteva so I can't go to their website.
Can any one help ? I posted on 07-27-05 at 5:19 and they were great in helping me but I needed to ask the above question. I hate to think there is no way to make it work. |

Hello dinkydo53545,
Scanned your previous posts but not sure exactly what you are looking for. If you need a driver for your DVD it would be based on the DVD manufacturer, not Proteva. Get the DVD nomenclature and go Here and see if you can locate what you need. If you are seeking any other Proteva support that might be difficult. Best would be to contact Systemax who bought Proteva with your info and see if they can help. |

Great, Thanks alot. I really appreciate the help. It's been like butting my hand against the wall , trying to figure out what to do. We had bought the Proteva and it didnt work , so they gave us one with a dvd in it. Obviously they forgot to give us the disk for it. We didnt watch it anyway. 1 1/2 ago we had to get it fix because of a virus and it now no longer says we have a dvd play on it. So thats what I need, to make it recognized.
With drivers do you just go and download them, is that all there is? Do they have to been download to a certain folder ? |

The driver file often is in a zip format that you will have to unzip - either way, save it to a known location. Then use add new hardware to install the dvd, browsing to the downloaded file location when it asks for a file location. It will normally be searching for a .INF extension. Some drivers come with their own setup file, but not usually.
