I am no computer genius, but I am learning my way round, slowly... However, I have a problem on my desktop computer which no longer seems to be recognising the CD rom drive... I have swapped CD rom drives so I know that the actual drive is working... It is not even registered in the device manager... any ideas? Big problem as I cant load anything on...so restore etc wont help

Hi

If you are running just the one CDROM then at the rear of the unit you need to set the jumper for a single or master drive.

You should be able to see the small plastic connector which sits over the pins.

Connect the IDE cable to the motherboard and put the other end into the drive.

If this doesn't work then you may need to try another IDE cable.

Let us know how you get on.
