I've never had this trouble before! I can't get on line. When trying to dial in I get the message "there is no answer". I know it's not my ISP because I have a lap top as well that gets right on as usual. I've run spybot, adaware, helpspot... I've scanned, defragged, replaced my lines, the works... I'm at a loss. Any suggestions? :dizzy:

The modem is not talking to your ISP, if you get that message then your dial up networking isn't configured right. If your lappy connects allright and your running the same operating system. Bring up your dial-up network settings and compare to the PC.

Double click on "My Computer" then Dial-up Networking.

Nope. The lap is Windows 2000 ME but I tried it anyway and didn't see any differences :( Darn! Any ideas are welcome :) Thanks again

START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL

Double click on the MODEM ICON, go to the More Info TAB and click, do a bunch of AT commands come up in a window? If so then the computer is talking to the modem, therefore, the modem is not talking to your ISP.

Just now able to get back.... I tried what you said. There is nothing in the window. I appreciate all your help. I'll try any other ideas you may have :)

Sorry,... looked at the wrong port. Duh! YES, it does have a bunch of commands in the window. What do I do?

If the "there is no answer" message also says error 678 or 679, click HERE (http://www.modemsite.com/56k/duns678.asp) for possible solutions.
