Creating RSS subscriptions? I'm not understanding this...

Hello everyone,

First post. I searched through some other RSS topics, but couldn't find an answer to this question. (It probably has something to do with the fact that I have the most tenuous of grasps on RSS in the first place.)

I manage over 30 websites for athletes, and I would like to find a way to get an RSS feed onto the site, so each site will automaticall display news regarding the specific player, freeing up a ton of time on my end. I found some subscription type offers on the web (such as http://www.allheadlinenews.com/addnews/), but I'm not sure that this is what we're looking for either.

Additionally, some people have pointed me toward a free aggregator solution (although I'm not even sure what THAT is), to display the news headlines on our sites.

To sum up: What would you all suggest as the best solution for using RSS feeds to publish player-specific headlines on websites?

Thanks everyone.

Where is the news source(s) coming from ? Is this your own content or other peoples ?

What serverside scripting do you use ? php or asp ?

Hi Mishy,

We'd like to pull in external news sources.

We use mostly php on most of our sites... but we also are switching over to css. (Wait... is that right? CSS? I think it is. Hehe... oops.)

Thanks, Mishy.

Hi,

CSS is for layout. PHP is for server side stuff.

Have a look at magpie rss for displaying your RSS http://magpierss.sourceforge.net/

It's not hard to write a RSS parsing script, but if you're not into coding then that is a good pre-made alternative.
