Hi! am new to the forum, hope you can help. Have a Packard Bell computer with Office 2000 on it, it has floppy disk capacity but no rewriter on it. I want to transfer office across to my new E machine which is XP. Is there any way of doing this on the cheap without buying any software or pricey cables?:dizzy:

If you mean you want to transfer Microsoft Office programs, no, there's no way to do that without having or buying Microsoft Office installation CDs.

Office contains a number of applications...Word, Excel, Outlook, etc...and each one writes data all over the drive as well as making numerous registry entries.

There are alternatives to Microsoft's version of office applications.

602 PC Suite (http://www.software602.com/products/pcs/) is free for personal use and supports Microsoft file formats.

Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/) is another free office suite that supports Microsoft file formats.

If you prefer Microsoft products, the various applications contained in the Office Suite can be purchased separately.
