Mic problem

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my mic. I am trying to use skype and I hear the caller's voice but he can't hear mine. Does someone have any ideas what I can do to make it owrk?

Have you checked your VOLUME CONTROL PANEL (recording properties) and make sure 'MICROPHONE' is selected and that its plugged into the correct jack?? (Believe me this has happend to me be4)

I checked the voulme control and selected microphone. In the volume control should I also select "Line" and "auxiliary"? Should the headphone and speaker also be plugged?

This may be basic but I've seen stranger things happen...the microphone you have is designed to work with a computer?

The most common cause of the problem you're having is, as The Dude pointed out, the mic isn't plugged into the correct port on the sound card. Some dialup modems have a port that will accept the type of plug on microphones so make sure it's not plugged into the modem.

In the volume control panel, make sure the microphone isn't muted.

If you're using a headset (earpieces and microphone in one unit), it handles both incoming and outgoing sound. Connect it to your computer according to the directions that came with it.

If you're using a microphone, the speakers are needed if you want to hear what they're saying to you...which I assume you do. ;)

I'm using a headset, Labtec. Mic is plugged into the correct jack. In the volume control panel, mic isn't muted. I have checked everything both of you suggested and it is not working. Should I get a separate mic, not a headset? Any suggestions?
