hi folks,

i'm a bit stuck, i made a pp presentation of my little sisters life so far for her 21st bday thinking that it would be easy enuf 2 transfer on 2 a dvd so it plays automatically (like a movie) in the dvd player. however, i have downloaded various free programs to do this and had no success. can anyone help and tell me how 2 do this without purhcasing a very expensive program or sending it to a company and again paying a lot of money.

thanks,
emma

It doesn't seem like there's any free software to do it automatically, and doing it manually (using a DVD authoring tool to add each slide) would be a time-waster. Have you thought about setting up your computer to output to your TV? Or maybe you could hire/borrow a data projector for the day to project the presentation?

hi, thanks for your response.
yea i have considered that but the thing is i want to give this to my sister as a gift also and she can keep it and watch it whenever she likes. she does not have a pc so cannot link it up 2 the tv like i can. im not sure what u mean about the dvd authoring tool, would this be a way to transfer the pp pres. 2 dvd? i dont mind if it takes time, just as long as it would work
thanks

A DVD authoring tool is an application designed to allow a user to create custom DVD movies. To transfer your powerpoint presentation, you may have to take a snapshot of each slide, one at a time, and use a program such as the free Windows Movie Maker to put the slides in, and put gaps between them, then burn this movie to DVD. The disadvantage of this of course is that you will only get one state of a slide, ie. no animation. There ARE tools available on the internet to convert powerpoint to movie files, or capture video from the computer (which would both include the animation), but all these cost money.
Something more exotic may be to try having two computers, one with video output and one with a capture card (video input), and record that way using regular free video capture software.
