Hi fellas, I recently put a new motherboard and video card in system, reformated, and reinstalled windows 98. Unfortunatly, I now have truely crappy stability, I get blue screens of death, automatic restarts, and all kinds of errors. Ive even had it freek out on me while restarting, it just started beeping up a storm.

Anyway, I am wondering exactly how I could go about fixing this problem.

Would a low level format be a sure fire fix?

If so, could you be so gracious as to detail the steps for me briefly?

Thanks alot in advance.

Kind Regards,
Lewis

What kind of Mother Board did you put in? What kind of Bios did it have?

Also, how many beeps did you get? i.e. 1 long, 2 short etc....

Information like that can really help in determining what the problem could be.

I do NOT recomend you trying a Low Level Format. It can be dangerous if not done correctly....

Its a GIGABYTE technology motherboard, no product name or anything on it. I suppose its fairly generic. Anywho, I only get one short beep on startup, so all is well in that department.

About the bios, well, I dont rightly know.

I suppose Ill check out GIGABYTE's website and see if I can flash it or soemthing, do you think that would help?

Also, I was under the impression that a low level format was alot like a high level format, except you had to repartition the disk, is this not correct?

Thanks for the help so far dodge, hope to hear a reply from you soon!

Kind Regards,
Lewis
