I am running windows 98. When went to turn computer on it goes to C:\windows\>, it has never done this before. I can go into safe mode, but anything else I try puts me into DOS with above prompt. Any Ideas??? :( Any help is as always MUCH appreciated!

Did you try typing scanreg /restore from a dos prompt ? (note the space between the g and the / ) set the date to before the problem started and see if that clears it up...Rhett

If scanreg doesn't help try this. Boot to safe mode. Go to start>run and type msconfig. Choose selective startup.

Unselect Process autoexec.bat and config.sys

See if you can boot to Windows now.

Hi ImTznU62

The scanreg /restore has to be run in the DOS mode

Pick a date that was before you had the problem.

Good luck
