I have these as well. The format is sg_backup_YEAR-DY-MO-1115.spg the first one FirstBackup.spg They seem to have been created when I was messing with TCPOptimizer.exe. These files may be the backups of the TCP settings.

These icons appeared on my desktop after I installed various programmes. Some of these programmes I have since uninstalled, however. the icons remained. Is there any way I can tell which icon is/was for a particular programme?
Thanks |

Hi buddy... as the above posts say.... right click the icons and left click properties. In the window you should see C:\Documents and Settings\Name\Desktop. The part in bold will tell you what it is. Or simply click the icons and see where they take you.

These files are created by TCP Optimizer from http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
I googled myself to this forum to find out what these files are and CGalvan's post steered me in the right direction. These files are created in the folder from where you run the program. OK to delete I would imagine. I deleted six of them without any dire consequences. Thanks CGalvan, HJ |

Before you delete...
...these files enable you to UNdo any changes that TCP-Optimizer may have done to your registry. Once you delete them, there is no going back unless you saved a copy of your registry or know your old TCP settings by memory.
They are harmless files that can only help you so you might want to keep them around, especially if you still use TCP-Optimizer |
