If you are talking about the two little tv looking icons in the task tray thats your local area connection icon. This would indicate there is traffic either being sent or recived from inside or outside your network. Are you on broadband "cable or dsl"? There are many reasons you could be seeing traffic while not activly surfing or such. Some app's use the internet in the backgroud and sometimes you get packets of info from your isp's downstream servers. If you really want to see whats coming and going the easy thing to do would be to install a firewall such as ZA or the like and let it run for a while then take a look at the logs.

That could be a lagit windows networking process but it could also not be. If you don't already have it go download AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1) update it and run a scan. You may also want to post a hijack this log in the Cyber Safety forum. Sometimes trojans or other nasties can use your connection and run in the backgroud like that. If you scan and everything comes up clean start making note of any odd ip addresses that are sending incoming or outgoing traffic.

I downloaded AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1) and scanned, and I found "infected objects 1" the infected file's name is Hidden Extension. vbs.

oh I forgot my local area connection was normal (sending and receiving traffic only when I download something or surfing ) but since I updated my windows xp pro, this problem happend (sending and receicving traffic all the time, nonstop)
