When i open network connections it dosnt show any LAN connections only my wireless, also when i plug in no lights come on. When looking in device manager under network devices it only show the wireless, but when opening show hidden devices it opens what seems just the driver for the LAN, comparing my settings with an identical laptop this seems to be the case. Its a Marvell Yukon 88E8036 PCI-E Fast ethernet controller. I aint that savvy when comes to networking so all help would be cool... Thanks

It doesn't sound like windows even see's that you have installed new hardware. Have you already tried to re-seat the card make sure its in nice and snug? Reboot and see how that goes? Did the card come with install booklet and system req's?

After re-reading your first post I just now noticed we are talking about a laptop duahhh my bad! This changes things just a bit so lets get on the same page about your adaptors. You say you have built in wi-fi I got that, now as for the wired card is it onboard meaning built in or an add-on pcm card like the one shown HERE

Ok now that I'm up to speed lets take a look at something before we go any further. If you would can you download and install Everest Home ed. form HERE After the install run it and paste in here what it tells you for network adaptors. If we know exactly what we are dealing with we may be able to try a manual re-install. If that doesn't work the onboard network card may be fried. Have you made any software or hardware changes as of late? Has there been a power spike or surge when the laptop was plugged in?
