The last time I posted here was last month, and I was told because of the frequent error messages that I was getting to do a spyware and virus scan.I did this, and when I posted a HiJack This Log I was told that everything looked ok.I've updated my video card and monitor drivers but still nothing seems to work.I read on a website that these are the kinds of errors you start getting when your system is about to go.Here are some of the errors I've written down:

SLRUNDLL caused a general protection fault in module KRNL386.EXE at 0001:000027bc.

An error has occurred.To continue:

Press Enter to return to Window, or

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart your computer. If you do this, you will lose any unsaved information in all open applications.

File Name:VMM(01) + 0001143B Error : OE : 0028 : C001243B

An exception OE has occurred at 0028:C0011FAB in VxD ---. This was called from 0028:C0012B33 in VxD ---. It may be possible to continue normally

And after I recieved these two blue screen errors my computer automatically rebooted.I've also as I said in one of my other posts green lines at the top of my monitor were showing up.This time I've gotten a black screen with blue lines as well.I don't know what's going on and am very concerned.I'm suspecting I'm still having driver problems but it doesn't really make sense to me since I've done everything I know to do.Hopefully someone can explain to me in detail what I can do about this.Sorry for posting again but it's happening more than ever and now and it's to the point where it will do it whenever I open a document or browse the internet.

Howdy:

The SLRUNDLL file is your Smart Link modem driver.. pull /unhook it from your system if it is an add-on or disable it in BIOS if it is integrated..

See what happens now..

How do I access the BIOS?

Watch the screen as it boots up.. It will say something like "press <delete> to enter setup".. That's BIOS..

Or, read your manual.. it will tell you in there plus give you the exact location the integrated modem setting will be!!

When my computer was starting up I didn't see any typing that mentioned BIOS.I read my manual too and it didn't mention anything about BIOS..Also I use ME so dunno if there's a different way to access it with my operating system. I tried pressing delete too and it didn't do anything.Wierd..

As per the Compaq website..

When the first screen appears, press F1 to enter the BIOS Setup. On certain Compaq Presario PCs (prior to 2002) press the F10 key at the logo screen to enter setup.

Ok I got the BIOS to show up.Where do I find the driver thing to disable it?I've looked and haven't saw anything related to SLRUNDLL.Sorry for all the questions just haven't ever done this before. ;)

You won't find anything like that.. It will say something like "On Board Modem"..

I looked for that, but didn't see it anywhere.I dunno what to do,hopefully there's some way to turn it off but I don't see anything like On Board Modem.I'm really worried that my computer is about to die since that's what it says on that one guys site I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread.

I wish I could.Unfortunately the technical support contract is over so there is no way to get help from them.I read the site again, the one about VxD errors that said computers alot of times start doing that just before they finally kick the bucket.I dunno if it's just because ME is so buggy or what...I hate to ask yet another question, but do you think that my system is going to go?Just curious as to your opinion on all of this.

VxD errors normally refer to some sort of virtual driver or memory.. More often than not, a piece of hardware is not working right or the drivers have corrupted..

Do your BIOS options have a "default setting"?? If so, click on that and then F10 to save the setting and exit..

The closest thing that I found to "default setting" was "Set Defaults and Exit." I clicked on that, but still hasn't fixed my problem..

Go into Device Manager.. Find your modem and "remove" it.. Reboot and let Windows find it again..

After I took the modem off my computer as you said,I restarted but computer didn't automatically start trying to find it.I had to reinstall the modem manually by clicking on a Setup file that was already on my computer.I waited a little while to see if it fixed my problem, but I'm still getting error messages and reboots that come out of nowhere..
