All right... my situation is this: I have one PC full of mp3 files that I don't want to lose because I will be reformatting said PC. I also have another, lower-quality PC with an empty hard drive that I can transfer the files to. What I need to know is not my options for transferring files, because I've heard them all. I just want to know how to do what I want to do. I have both computers connected to a network, and I have a 5-port switch. I have been told that I will need to be sure that the PCs are in the same workgroup, something I do not know how to do. Also, when I am told that I need "two straight through patch cables," what are they referring to? Is this a specific sort of cat5e cable? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
