wireless network in dorm....need to get it secured

hello,

I just moved to college and I have set up my wireless internet via Wireless Broadband Router. I am in a dorm so there is broadband internet here. I have noticed that my roomate can get on my network though. Which would mean so can all the other 100 students in my dorm and is causing me to have much slower speed on the internet. I am new to wireless networks so not sure how to get this protected for just my use. How do I get it so just I can use my own newtwork and prevent other students in the dorm from accessing mine?

IE 6
Windows XP Home
Cisco Systems Wireless G Broadband Router

Thanks!!!

Do you have the manual for the router? You want to set up WEP/WPA on the wireless network. You may also want to set up a MAC address filter so that only the allowed PCs can connect to the router. Another, plus as far as sucring the wireless is to disable SSID broadcast on the router.

i'll look through the manual on how to do these things. I'm not too savy with routers or anything wireless, so I may be requiring more in depth assistance. stay tuned..........
