Setting up a repeater!!! please help me

hey people i wonder if u can help me,

i have my wireless router set up on the ground floor of my house and my pc is on the top floor of my house. I can a average signal from the router and the internet will work but i feel i am not getting the most from my 2mb broaband on it. So i purchased a d-link DWL2000 hoping to set it up as a repeater. but the thing is i cannot for the life of me set it up to act as repeater. IF anyone knows how or has tips to set a repeater plse reply thanks all!!

i have accesed the settings on the acces point and it is asking for remote ap's mac address and stuuf like that and dont know what that means

Unhappy not a repeater

I'm not 100% sure, but after a quick look at the DWL-2000 manual I believe it cannot operate as a repeater.

cmd /k ipconfig/all [use to start ipconfig from 'Run']
cmd /k ping <some website, like google or yahoo> [use to ping 'www.google.com' from 'Run']
