ME won't work!

Tried to shut down last night to be faced by black & orange vertical stripes on monitor, so had to turn off manually (not the 1st time). This morning all I can get is 'safe mode' screen but no more. When I try to get normal start-up, it defaults to the 'safe mode' screen. HELP!:(

Have you tried reinstalling your video drivers?

Can you tell me what video card you have?

Go to the Control Panel.

Select Display.

Select Settings.

Click the Advanced button.

Click the Adapter tab.

The name of the video card, manufacturer, version number, write this information down so you can post it.

Also check this MS link (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;273746) that might help you with this issue.

Thank's for your response. Unfortunately, I can only get as far as a 'safe mode' screen (whatever I do, it keeps defaulting to that then stops). The irony is that when I need help, I can't use my comp. to seek it, only someone else's - which I'm on now, so I don't think I can access much at all!

Have you tried system restore?
