The Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA branch of RIAA) is after Canada.

Australia needed a protection act in place, like we do in Canada.

That is absolutely unbelievable. Gotta love the "free world" that we live in huh!

I do think those two items are the biggest reason we haven't been hit here yet.. Hard for the CRIA to say downloading is taking money from the artists pockets when we are paying a levy for every tape, cd, dvd, etc we buy that goes directly to the CRIA..

I'm not saying it's totally kosher as that money is going to the Canadian artists only..

To me it just doesn't make sense to do away with kazaa in the first place. Do they actually believe that getting rid of kazaa will solve the problem? There are at least 10 other p2p app's out there right now that are as big as kazza and one of them soaks up even more bandwidth hehe. They could shut down all of those and you still have stuff like sharing files over yahoo, and DCC over IRC so p2p will live even without the big K. Seems silly to put so much time, money, and man hours behind fighting something they will never be able to kill. Why not use those resources helping people that don't have food, homes, or jobs? I guess gov all over the world is the same people come last and money comes first.

The RIAA should be selling songs online for 99¢ like everybody else is.

Their (RIAA) relentless money spending and fight to make people go back to stores
and buy CDs is so out of touch with reality it really makes you wonder what kind of
drugs the RIAA is addicted to.

Only a drug addict or a conglomerate run by stubborn people using the music industry's
wealth could make this p2p-witch-hunt keep going after learning what happened to
file sharing after they killed Napster. What happened? Morpheus and Kazaa became #1.

Have you ever dug a hole when it's raining? You dig like a mad-man and the hole your
trying to create turns into a giant puddle. RIAA is using a shovel, they should be using
a pump and waiting for the rain to stop. I just see them as buying more shovels and
having new ideas how to dig faster. I bet they yell at each other in the RIAA meetings to.

"If you can't lick 'em, join 'em." <--- RIAA should be selling tunes, branding mp3 players,
and get commercials on TV, not chase hard working visionaries who have filled vacuums
in online tune-delivery.

Being a file sharer myself I always bang my head at this type of thread. The real truth is that more and more people are downloading music and films and then choosing what they like best.
Look at the the latest figures of cd sales and you will find that they are still growing. The reason being is that people ( illegally ) download a track or two and then want the album in it's full glory.
It is the same with films. Many people I speak/write to will download a film and still see it in the cinema because they want to see how it really is!
If you think about it you will see that the world has become a much more discerning place and people want to test the goods before they buy.
Basically it means that Hollywood, Music Industry etc can't sell us crap and make it sound like candy-floss!
Most, ( not all ) of my music films etc are either bought or put to disc from Sky, which opens another avenue of discussion.
