Cedega (sp?) to run windows apps on linux.

I was just going through some recent posts seeing if i couldn't find some useful info for myself when i get my linux system up and running, and i noticed among other things the mention of a program called "Cedega" (sp?) and (i think it was Kage) made m ention of the fact that nvidia cards are easier to configure for that program, i am using a radeon 9600xt in my main system, so what would be different/more difficult about configuring my radeon to run with this program? and also if there were any resources (other than support forums) where a still unexperienced fella like me could get some info to get started on the right foot?

Um, well you don't configure your graphics card through cedega, you would do that through linux. Nvidia cards are easier to configure with 3d-acceleration, though (similar to direct-x on windows).

You can most likely get your card working with this:

Cedega is basically a front-end for wine, the windows emulator.

You have it backwards, wine is free, while you have to pay for cedega (its not much though). As for which is better, it depends on what you'll be using it for. Cedega is easier to use, and comes with some nice tools that automatically add your windows programs to your program menu list, etc.

I haven't had much luck finding a version of wine for Fedora Core 4, i have however found it for fc 1, 2, and 3. If i get it for fedora core's 1, 2, or 3 will it still work fine on 4? or no?

I'm not sure, but probably not. You could try the version for fc3, it might work. Have you checked the yum repository for it?

Open up a terminal, and type 'su' to become root (enter the password). Then 'yum help' will display the commands used in updating, finding, and install packages with yum.
