When my wife attempts to start her computer she gets an error message "Keyboard error or no keyboard present". The computer then stops. A keyboard IS present and all the connections are OK. But I can find no mention of this error message in any documentation or tech help site. What's to do?

Hi
would like to know what sort of keyboard connector is used.
USB, ps2, wireless, or the old DIN.
you can try with another keyboard.
most times it's a bent pin.
and wireless, they have a battery...
USB support may have disabled itself in BIOS

another reason?
Hmmm, a "stuck" key can cause this.
(dirt or moisture)
in BIOS, you may have a setting, HALT on ALL errors.

Hopefully, you will not run into the problem I did. I had the exact same problem. Finally bought a new keyboard (a good one, not a cheapie). Thought that would solve the problem, but it did not. After checking with at least a dozen people on forums like this, and going to 2 computer repair shops, the trouble turned into a broken or loose pin in the motherboard. I had one computer repairman tell me he would not touch it, as there was too much chance he would damage the M/board beyond repair, then have to replace the whold M/board at his expense. Final result was I needed a new M/board. That is when my son "upgraded" my system.
Of course, I may have been told wrong. I will watch your thread as I would like to know more about this, too. You're luckier than me, anyway. If I had known about this forum then, I would have posted it here :p
Best....Larry

Hi larry01
so it did turn out to be one of the possibilities I utttered?
EDIT> (I just realised it may have been someone else I mentioned that possibility to.)
GROAN, these things can be fragile.
by cleaning the place one often wiggles them cables and pulls the connectors.
I had a PM, and am waiting for that info to be posted.
so Larry, stay tuned, because you have the experience with a case like this here..
