Didn't realize if I posted a poll it would show up in the subject line :p It could cause my question to be overlooked, so here it is again.

I have never added memory, but have been told it is just a matter of plugging the new one into the M/board. Is there anything else I should know about it, besides making sure I'm
grounded when I do it? Thanks....Larry

Should have mentioned that I do know added memory needs to match the type you already have (cannot add SRAM to DRAM or either one an existing DDR). I've also heard that it is better to install the same size (if you have 128MB SRAM you should not add a 256MB SRAM.....is that right?).

Thanks...Larry

If you have your manual for you mobo I would check to see what it says. You could put in 384 and it may only recognize 256. I would use the gold pin instead of the tin and not a good idea to mix them. Others may not agree but I would go for a good brand instead of the value brand. Mine are mixed, two are 64 and one 128. I have a B6-II mobo which supports up to 768, supports single and double density DIMMs. They snap directly into the socket but, certain DIMM sockets have a little physical difference so if it doesn't seem to fit don't force it as you might damage the module or socket. The module is keyed to the socket which I found out when it didn't fit the first time I tried. Make sure it snaps into place fully so the eject tab is locked into the module firmly. I have heard some have to be installed in a certain order but that is not the case with mine, they can be put in any order. I did put the 128 in the first slot and moved the two 64s to slot 2 and 3. I don't know if I have been much help but as one that is "maybe" a hair above a novice and was able to do it I am sure you will have no problem.

Thanks for the reply, Mistystar. You were right...I had no problem. I changed from 128MB DDR to 256MB SDRAM. Results in my next post under "Flaky Modem." Best...Larry
