I am on a site where you can rearange a room of furniture and it says I need to download shockwave. Is it safe as far as a virus goes? I don't want to add anything that may mess up any of my programs.
I have windows 98. Thanks so much!

Hi perplexed - I always prefer to download from the website that distributes the program and I always scan a program with my AV before I install it. Its just a matter of safe practices.
I have an older version of shockwave on my Win95b PC with no ill effects. FAQ's here and if you feel comfortable after reading through them you can use the link to download as well

Generally speaking...Shockwave (or Flash sometimes) is a Macromedia plug-in for your browser. When you come to a site that needs the plug-in...it will activate on its own without any special intervention by the user.
