I started using linux fedora core 4 last night and i am trying to map a network driver across two computers, one of which being a Windows XP computer, and the other being (as i just mentioned) a linux machine. While searching for computers on my home network i can see the XP computer i just mentioned in the "Windows network: workgroup on workgroup" folder on the linux machine, but when it try to access it it gives me an error that says "folder contents could not be displayed". The xp machine that i am trying to talk to isn't passworded, and i have run the network setup wizard to make sure that filesharing is enabled and that it does in fact belong to workgroup.
Any help?

Try putting a password on the XP machine, then entering the username/password on the linux machine when prompted.

To connect to a windows computer from linux, you have to use samba. I'm pretty sure FC4 comes pre-installed with samba, but taking a look at this guide and seeing how it works might help a bit:

Thanks, i will check this out when i get a littl emore free time. I am pretty sure that fc4 does in fact come with samba, or something similar to it, i remember hearing about it, or seeing it somewhere, i don't remember where or whofrom though.
