View Full Version : unresponsive tasks in task manger

hello, im unable to kill alot of unresponsive applications... seems to have come around ever since i upgraded to msn messenger 7.5 ,,, like ad-aware freezes when i go to update it... no response... hmm, and other programs wont end or be removed from task manager like iexplore.exe (internet explorer) and msn ofcourse... its really annoying and causes me to reboot frequently, how can i fix this? can i replace or upgrade task manager? maybe its been toyed with... not sure,, but i have norton av & internet security and i frequently remove aware/spyware n such.. with lavasoft adware and spyware doctor.. so im not completely unsecure or dumb... if anyone can help, please leave a message?

not really, ive even downgraded msn 7.5 back to 7.0 and still have the issues... hmm, i recently went through event logs via EVEREST and around the same time the errors occured i had the following appear in event log..
Information None 2005-09-10 14:28:02 EventLog 6006: The Event log service was stopped.

not sure if it helps, even after i close internet explorer it still appears in task manager and prevents me from using the web, and the process wont be killed... ive tried psinternals ProcessExplorerNt & killbox to no advantage.. might have to sacrifice all data and reformat if i cant get further advice or help on here... is there a way to replace all or most of the critical files in windows, like svchost n such, or maybe just taskmanger... i think the problem is deeper then task manger tho..
