Anybody else have/had a crappy teacher in highschool?
MY physics teacher is so boring, and can't teach for crap.
The worst thing is, she's the AP computer science teacher too. And I'll probably be stuck with her next year. Sorry, but after my 71% on the weekly quiz, I was just so irritated since i've been spending 2+ hours on physics homework alone.
california state university is slowly drifting away from me...

Hi JJ
Ball is in your court, blaming the teacher may satisfy some current situation but in the long run you will be the one affected.
Read the text, search the Internet, ask the questions in class, do the yards reap the rewards.
Two hours on physics homework isn't much. Physics is the most interesting subject there is, I believe. Our whole universe is involved, right down to the smallest sub-atomic particle.
I've been out of school for many years, and I still do more than 2 hours physics research, every week.
If Uni is your aim, you have the power to make it happen.
Some links: here (http://www.physicscentral.com/) and here (http://www.colorado.edu/physics/2000/index.pl) and here (http://www.physicsclassroom.com/) and here (http://www.physlink.com/) and here (http://www.physicstoday.org/)
Good luck.

yeah i know usually the teacher isn't to blame. but her lectures come up pointless since she strays off on so many tangents. if it wasn't for my textbook, i probably would've failed. we're not all perfect, but there is more than plenty of room for improvement in her teaching methods.
or maybe it's because im comparing her to the other physics teachers in my school, when my brother was successful with a different teacher and he said it would be easy for me.
thanks for the reality check, and websites.

JW:do you just do research out of interest?
and have you read The Elegant Universe? that was pretty interesting

Interest, and no, I've not read that book, I'll keep an eye out for it, thanks.

I have had some teachers go on tangents. I love physics, but I am waiting until my senior year, and then I will probably take AP Physics and Conceptual Physics. This year I get all the science homework I can handle with AP Biology! I read part of The Elegant Universe. Did you ever read A Brief History of Time?
