Hello, alot of times when i try to install something i downloaded,
it tells that the crc failed. For instance i tried to update mozilla firefox
but when the installer runs it says "crc failed"
That same thing keeps happening, what does it mean?
And how can i fix it?

Howdy curudan,
Are you getting any error number? Also is this happening both with installing online and downloading/installing offline? Why not post back the full error message and let's see what someone can come up with.

Well exactly what i am talking about here is:
1 i Download(to use ftp or http protocol to copy a file off the internet) a Executeable file off the internet
2 i then execute this file
3 while it is copying the files i receive the error message "crc failed"
i do not remember if i received a error number on any of the numerous ocasions on which this happened but i do know that when i attempted to install a dos file i downloaded yesterday(The Companions of Xanth game by the way, from the home of the underdogs) after it each file it would say "crc okay" until it hit one point where the "crc" apparently did not check out.
Oh and i don't have the full erorr message.
Sorry if i come off as a bit strong but please do not interperet my lack of spelling of punctuaion skills as a sign that i do not know the difference between installing and downloading.
Again i am truly sorry if i have offended you so please try to help despite my being so rude and offish.

Never offended. The questions are for info, nothing more. If you are only getting crc errors periodically, good chance it's a source issue. I'm aware crc errors quite often come with a code, which can be used to track down issues. Perhaps you might post this request at the CTH Applications forum.

Well i know it's not a source issue because one program this happened with was mozilla firefox and i got that directly from the home page

What type of antivirus/firewall software are you running? Next time you get a crc error that is from a trusted source, you might consider trying the same download with the firewall disabled. No error - time to tweak the firewall.
