Help!Downgrading from xp to 2000. licence key error
Hello,
I am new to cybertech. I am trying to install 2000 on a new Dell Optiplex GX520 that came with xp. I have formatted the C:NTFS partition but during 2000 setup the product key is not being accepted. I get an error "the cd key you entered is not valid" I have tried 2 other 2000 keys and I get the same error. I have also tried another 2000 cd. I have reinstalled xp and tried again to install 2000 but get stuck at the same place. Can anyone help me please? Sunnyboy. |

You are going to need a valid Win2000 license.. Unless you have one, we aren't able to help!! Murray

Hello again,
The win2000 license is a valid one, purchased from legitimate supplier. Supplier recommended that I try other key numbers to verify that problem is with the pc. p.s. At the beginning of setup, there is a blue screen crash saying that there is an unknown hard error with ntdll.dll. This only happens after the first boot. Does anybody have any ideas? Lastly, you can't install Win2000 over XP.. You have to completely wipe the hard-drive and then go for the Win2000 setup.. If you do that and still get the "the cd key you entered is not valid" message, you probably bought a pirated program!! Murray
