This is a weird one: I'm a designer, using Quark (ver. 4.1) XPress. I also have an Ipod Nano and Apple's software on a WinXP machine. I have long used the Quark software successfully...until I downloaded the latest ITunes (5.0), which also loads QuickTime 7.0. QT7 destroys Quark--hijacks a DLL; when you try to open Quark it stops XP cold. Others (on the Quark forums) have encountered this problem, which will grow in coming days. Apple's "support" site is no help at all. Quark could care less about legacy users (their updates have been crap). I need Quark--but here's the hooker. I went back to Itunes 4; QT6...but can't open 'em; error message sez Music Library created by a later ITunes version (ie., Apple corrupted the files).

Are there any folks out there who have any suggestions?

Are there any worse software outfits than Apple and Quark?

To get QuarkXPress working again, you should be able to just reinstall whatever version you have.

To get your music library back, you will have to reinstall the latest iTunes (once they fix compatibility with QuarkXPress). I'm pretty sure there's no way to get an older version to recognize a new version music library once it's been converted.
