Windows 2k doesn't have system restore so that won't be an issue for you. I'd also like to point out that a firewall won't keep you from getting a virus really. A firewall is more for keeping unwanted persons from accessing your computer. If you downloaded a trojan somehow the firewall wouldn't stop that, but it could pick up when the trojan was being used by a remote computer or pick when the trojan was trying to get out to the internet. The best way to keep from getting a trojan is to be careful what you download and have at least two good scanners on hand. Most good AV scanners will pick up a trojan but there are scanners out there made just to sniff out trojan's.

Thanks for your help. I followed some instructions on symantec website to get rid of the trojans, I updated the virus software, restarted in safe mode then tried to get rid of them but deletion and quarantine both failed again. Anymore tips?

It would help alot to know exactly what trojan we are dealing with here. Post back with the name or names you are seeing after a scan. In the meantime you can give THIS (http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/) scanner a try. Its free and is used just for detecting and getting rid of trojans. If you download it make sure and update the ref files for it before you use it. Then boot into safe mode and scan away. If this app doesn't get it done for you post back with the names of those nasties and we can go from there. This may actually be one for the Cyber Safety crew but before we bug them lets try and work it out here.
