Hi guys (&gals), just signed up. In another process I managed to inxdvertently overwrite my config.sys file. I do not know how to reconstruct it. Any or all assistance would be appreciated.

Well one way would be to boot to dos and type in scanreg/ restore and restore it to the date you had it. or try this one

1/ Restart your PC
2/ Keep tapping the F8 Button until a menu appears
3/ When the menu appears use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to select the ‘Last known good configuration’ option.
4/ Once selected press Enter
5/ Your PC should now reinstall the ‘last known good configuration file’
6/ Restart your PC and see if the problem has been solved

Many Thanks, I had no idea this was a feature of Win98. I used the first option, simple enough for an adult to do it.

I get an error message concerning a missing cdrom driver but both my cd rw and dvd are accessable.

Well as long as their accesible then I wouldn't worry about it but you can always get the latest drivers for them
