I am trying to install Windows 2000 on a new WD hard drive. I have removed all of my PCI devices except for the video card. Only the floppy, CD drive, and hard drive remain. For some reason, I can't boot from the Win2000 CD (it is a burned copy), so I boot from the 4 Win2000 boot disks instead. Yes, I have my BIOS set to boot from CD, then floppy, then HDD.
I am able to get through the process of copying over Setup files. The system restarts and gets past the black screen with the white progress bar. However, once I get to the white screen with the Windows 2000 Professional logo and the Starting Up... progress bar, it hangs. None of the blue bars ever appear. I have even tried starting in Safe Mode and it only gets to the next screen with installation process, but hangs right away.
I even formatted the hard drive again and ran the process again, but it still hangs at the white Win2kPro logo screen with no progress bars appearing. Any thoughts as to what this might be?
