Hi All :wave:

While installing an old copy of Corel Word, it also installed an Inbox on my desktop. :dizzy: I think this is Microsoft Messenger.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it. It doesn't show up in msconfig's startup listing and I can't find the "exe" file which launches it. Clicking on "properties" only launches it.

OS = Windows 98 SE

Thanks in anticipation ....

First try to just right click on it and then delete. Also go to start/find/find files and folders and type in Inbox and see if it finds anything like you have. If so then you can delete it from there if there isn't an un-install for it. Have you looked to see if you can un-install it.

Hi :wave:

1. There is no "delete" available when right-clicking on the icon
2. It can't be dragged to the Recycle Bin (just pops back to where it was)
3. There is nothing in the ADD/REMOVE listings
4. A search of my HD only shows my Outlook Express Inbox

(sigh) :(

I have to go back in time now. ;) I think I remember when I had that and it is part of Outlook Express, which I don't use never have liked (because it gets a lot of viruses) so I removed it from my system and I think that is the only way you can get rid of the inbox is to remove outlook express.

No, it is definitely not connected to Outlook Express ... It looks like a network messaging program to send messages to other computers in a network.

OE is an email program. Unless your using it then you don't need it installed.
