View Full Version : help.. windows won't load!

when i turn on the computer.. it gets up to the part where it says starting windows and the bar loads.. and right after that my monitor and keyboard lights flash about 3 times and it restarts all over again.. it jus does it by itself.. restart itself over and over.. i tried starting in safe mode, etc etc but nothings working.. any help is appreciated

Sounds like you got zaped by some virus,worm,etc.?

Sounds like you might be caught in a restart loop too. You can try if you have a 2k install cd to boot to that. Go into the BIOS and set the cd drive as the first boot device then reboot with the install cd in the drive. It will go along like its doing a normal install then you should see a screen that asks if you want to install or hit R for repair. Thats when you want to hit the R key. Once in the repair screen "big black screen with command line" it may ask you for what install of windows you want to repair if you only have one listed just press the number 1 and enter. Then it may ask for the admin password. If you set a password just enter it and hit enter, if you didn't set a password then just hit enter. Now at a command promt type chkdesk /R and let it do its thing. If you have a big hard drive go eat dinner or something it will take a while. After its done type exit and take the install cd out reboot and see what you have to work with.
