Hello all:

I'm new to the site. First Post. Yay!!

Anyway, I need some help with "shrinking" a CD, like one would do with a DVD. I want to fit a double disc CD onto one disc. Is it possible? Could I lower mp3 bitrates to 96 and would it still sound OK on a CD. All help is needed.

Thanks,
Ryan.

Hi ryry1283,

There really shouldn't be a problem fitting a double CD in .mp3 files onto a normal 700 MB disc. For example, Now 61 will burn onto one CD no problem. Maybe if each track is over 4.5 mins long and there are about 22 tracks on each CD, like Clubland Classics, maybe they might not all fit on.
Those .mp3 files are the most compressed music format there is. If you lower the bitrate it will sound like it's being played through a biscuit tin.
Alternatively, TDK now produce an 800 MB CD, which should be ample.

Use a programme like CDex (http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/) to rip your CD's into .mp3's. Rip your audio files at 256 high quality stereo at a Constant Bit Rate not Variable Bit Rate. :bored:
