word/excel file save as problems
I have an odd problem.
I can reproduce it every time. I open word, or excel. Open an existing or new document or spreadsheet do a file, "save as" use the up arrow or select "my computer" the flashlight comes on and the application hangs. Disconnecting the network cable will release the hang. So far, I have: 1. Installed newer version of Microsoft Office (2003) and updates. 2. Reset the server 3. reset the hub/switch 4. moved the network cable to another port on the switch 5. Re seated the network card 6. replaced the network card all to no avail. Bad thing, I had a similar problem several months ago, and I fooled with it for a long time and fixed it, but for the life of me I can't remember what I did to fix the problem. It was not a hardware problem, I know that. I think some code module used by the word and excel file managers has gotten corrupted, and it just keeps on trying to connect back to my machine from the network If I open an document or spread and do save (not save as) it saves it without a problem. That can be either a local file or a network file. but SAVE AS and MY COMPUTER wants to pull up save locations in either the local machine or the network hangs the application every time until I pull the cable.
