Hello,

I have an Armada 1700 Laptops, 266mhz, 98mg RAM, loaded with an Intel Pro 10/100 Mobile Adapter with Windows 95 on it. I can see other computers on the network but when I try to go to my desktop it gives me an error saying my desktop is not accessible. Now I rebooted and I can't even see my desktop on the laptop. I can see other Windows 2000 machines and see their drives but I can not see mine. We do this all the time with Windows NT machines no problem. I have logged into the Windows 95 machine with the same login name and password that I use on my Windows 2000 machine. I have IPX, TCP/IP and NetBUI installed. Any suggsetions?

kjoymurphy, Welcome to the forums.

I'm admitting here that I'm a little unsure what you mean when you say you can't see the desktop on the laptop.

Is the "desktop" folder supposed to be shared and viewable over the network?
If so, browse to C:/Windows/Desktop or C;/Windows/Profiles/username/desktop and right click the "desktop" folder and enable sharing.

Otherwise, can you put me on the right track?

Hello smurfy,

It is my desktop computer I was trying to see on the network. My C: drive is shared so it can be viewed over the network. I could see my machine but couldn't get into it.

I figured it out. I had to uninstall IPX protocol to be able to get to my files on my desktop computer. As soon as I did that I was able to connect to my desktop computer. Very odd. But in any event figured it out.

Thanks for the effort to help me.

By the way like your name, seeing my last name is murphy. :D
