Whenever I try to watch a video or a video clip online, here's what happends -

1. I start the video/video clip
2. It starts for a second or two
3. The media player stops and the whole computer stops
4. I notice that everything is slowed down.
For example -
When I right click a window, it takes awhile
for the right clicked menu to show up, it shows
up bit by bit.
5. It only stops when I close down the media player/player window.

I just installed an eVGA gforce 6600GT AGP card, and eventhough that's the last thing I would want to blame it on (because I can FINALLY play games), I have a feeling that it MAY be the reason why this is happening. It may be, may be not. Somebody help, please.

My Computer -
Compaq Presario 7000 (Bought in 2000)
AMD Duron (it was an Athlon, but that one burned out)
80gb harddrive
cd-rw drive
dvd-rom drive

Why dont you try uninstalling it and see if the problem persists. Is ur RAM sufficient for the programs or games you run? How much RAM u hve? The next thing i wud ask is if the HD is running out of space. You could also check if the drive is badly fragmented, if so run a disk cleanup, scan disk and defragment. is this only when u watch videos online? Scanned for spyware?

hey rue,
if you feel comfortable with taking the side of your rig off, pop/unscrew it and take a look for the dust bunnies hanging around inside. they tend to gather after a few yrs. and block the air flow which in turn cause things to possibly heat-up. you could check your fan to see if it is spinning continuosly while the hood is up. du5 made a good point concerning the RAM.
