Newby here,
I am getting red x's when I try to load macromedia flash, when I visit pcoverkill.com, and sometimes when I receive jpeg's thru email. I have asked many for help but to no avail. I am hoping to find a cure here on this forum. Any suggestions? Be nice as I am pretty much just a layman when it comes to computers.

Thanks, z

It maybe a blocked pop-up?
It could be you are missing a plug in?
It could be you are missing some type of software?
Do you have a spyware block?
I hope this is of some help?

Hi ,
Thanks for geting back to me. I have SpySweeper and Trend Micro on my system. I have tried disableing them as well as turning of my firewall and the x's still show up. Any suggestions as to what to try next? It seems that only certain websites and file types are affected.

Thanks , Z

What happens when you install here at Macromedia (http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash)?

UNCHECK Yahoo Toolbar before clicking Install Now button.

It worked that time. I guess the Yahoo toolbar was a problem. The flash player sucessfully installed but I still get the x's on the website of www.pcoverkill.com It is a friend of mine who operates the site and I try frequently to go there. Any ideas?

You could try in internet options/advanced/multimedia/turn off place-holders/turn on show pictures.
It worked for me once.

Your friend is running Java Applets (*.class) so you'll need Java viewer installed.

Sun Java (http://www.java.com/en/download/download_the_latest.jsp)

Test if any Java versions are installed (http://www.davidellisbookseller.com/jvm/jvm_framed.html)

Hi Spider,
I loaded Java from the link you provided. I went to pcoverkill and it worked. Thanks a lot for your help. I guess time will tell if it works on some of the emails I receive that in the past have not displayed anything other than those dreaded red x's.

Thanks again, Z
