Lap Top Display

I have a newer Toshiba Lap Top. Recently the display went all white while in operation. I formatted the disc and reloaded windows incase it was a driver problem. No luck. This was accomplished by attaching an exterior monitor which works fine. Is my lap top display toast?

Most laptops have a function key, or combination of keys, that switch it back and forth between an exterior monitor and its own display screen. The user manual should tell you which keys to use to switch it back to its own screen.
