Dell won't help me they want to give me number for someone to walk me through this for money?? Is it me or is my hard drive gone that much so I cannot do this I cannot not restore either? This is a dell 8100 pentium 4

Hi mom23inmaine - welcome to CTH. I presume that windows is still loading and you have access to your drives. If so, try putting a floppy in your A: drive, open Windows Explorer and drag the files across with your mouse and drop them on your A: Drive. See if that helps.

Hi
I first thought, now that a few files got on floppy, mom23inmaine can call DELL to replace the hard drive?
then you would actually like to save more than this.
adress book, emails, favorites, stuff like that.
Anyway, the statement is, my hard drive is going again...
Have you had it replaced before?
I mean, What do you mean?
What symptoms do you notice?
What kind of errors do you get?

This is my second Hard drive I have also had the motherboard and a modem replaced. This system will be 2 years old in Dec. As for the error message I received this before windows loads told me that to back up my system as my hard drive was going in technical terms. So its been replaced as of today and what a pain in the butt to get everything up and running. Dell has great support but this is not what I wanted to be doing tonight and most of today.

The modem would never connect up to speed and the motherboard just went down one day?? No sure why. We have had nothing but problems with this system glad we bought the extra warranty.
