Angry Lord Of The Rings

I just bought and finished watching Lord Of The Rings.
And it totally SUCKED!!!!
Sure great story line, amazing graphics,
BUT WHO WANTS HALF A MOVIE!!!!
And how it just stops, no credits or anything, my system had no clue on what was going on.

And I have the LOTR's book set, never read them but there are I think 5 books? There better not be 5 Moviez that just leave you hanging!!!!

Just some Movie Bashing/Talking

Hmmmm, and how many STAR WARS movies are there?

Even though I am devoted Sci-Fi and fantasy fan, I have not read the books nor seen the over-hyped movie. (Considering it was made here in NZ you would not believe the hype here about it).

As far as the spacing goes, I'd bet it was designed more for the awards rounds than any fiscal reason. They could all be released over 1 year (every 4 months) and make as much moolah as they will over 3 years.
But who wants the OSCARs to be LOTR1 vs LOTR2 vs LOTR3?

But lets face it, can anyone here name a movie that was better than the book/s that preceded it?

I must give my apologies to Lord Of The Rings.

Y was it that it felt like I had watched half a movie????
Because I got ripped half a movie,,,,So all the blame goes to Block Buster's Broken Merchandise.
That would explan Y my system went into a Panic

But I was told that it does just leaves you hanging, is this true?
I can't get a new copy till Block Buster opens.

Turns out I was the sixth person to return the Movie for the same problem.

Just bought it

I just bought it and watched it too. I wanted to read the book before i saw the movie. I am glad that i did because the book was way better, but you cant expect them to fit all of what happened in the first book in one movie. They did leave out a lot of explanations that could have made the movie better. I think.

My advice read the book before you see the other 2 movies.
FYI - There are technically 4 books.

The hobbit (Bilbo's Journey)
3 Lord of the Rings books (Frodo's Journey)

What? You have to be out of your mind if you think this movie sucked.

But it seriously annoys me when people watch that movie and say, "I hate the ending, it just cuts off".

I think this movie was briliantly made, it stuck to the story line of the books. Plenty of action, and awesome graphics.

I agree that maybe during the opening credits, they should let you know that it is part one in a trilogy. But that ending just makes me want to see the next one even more. I'm just glad they filmed all three at once so we don't have to wait 3 years to watch it.

As far as the spacing of the movies. Fine by me. A few months when the movie leaves the theater, they put it on DVD to get you in the mood for part 2, coming in just a few months.

I know we are all entitled to our opinion, so I wanted to chime in with my 2 cents...

*returns to Hobbit hole to wait*

Cool

{{hangs head in shame}} I have to admit that I haven't read the books. However I loved the movie!
My daughter had seen it once before so she was waiting for my reaction at the ending. I turned to her and said, "It's not done. I'm not leaving the theater till the movie is finished." She burst out laughing and said I'd have a long wait.
Needless to say, I will be going to see the new one when it comes out. I haven't yet picked up the DVD, but this one I'll make sure to get it for. I want to see some of the "making of" and "out takes" for this.

Yeah, I agree. I too thought the movie was amazing, and it spurred me into buying the books. Having just read 'The Hobbit' which I thoroughly enjoyed, I'm now well into 'The Fellowhsip of the ring'. I love the way the book is so much morw detailed.

No, the movie was ace, and I thought it ended very well. It left you wanting more. I agree with most that the spacing of a year in between movies sucks, but their gonna cash in..u would do the same.

Have you seen the trailer for 'The Two Towers'? Wow, now that looks very good. Lots of action and plenty more fight scenes from what I can see....

Roll on Xmas!!

The movie was split into three parts because the story unfolds over 3 books,4 if you count the hobbit.

The only way you could do a story like this justice is to include as much detail and be as faithful to the book as possible.

LOTR is one of the most widely read books of all time and the hardcore fans make trekkers and starwars fans look like sane people. Any attempt to whip out a quick glossed over version in a nice neat 120 mins would have been badly recieved and would have ruined any directors credibility.

Thank f#$@ Peter Jackson made this movie, Imagine James Cameron etc getting a hold of the rights, it would have had Kate Winslet and Leonardo de Caprio staring into each others eyes and shouting "I'm the king of the trolls"

As for Jackson stringing it out for the money, You only have to watch any of his previous stuff to see that he does it because he LOVES it, not because he wants ANOTHER house in Malibu!

Go on, watch 'Meet the Feebles' or 'Braindead'
and if you still dont understand maybe you should stick to Star Wars that way you dont have to think at all!

I agree!

I read them as a teenager and then again before watching the movie. I thought they did a great job of recreating the epic scale of the books and stuck to the story line.

I had a few small missgivings. I dont know why but Hugo Weaving's portrayal of the elf king wasnt very convincing. He's a great actor but he just seemed too 'lame' for this part.

The scene were the elf queen refuses to take the ring from Frodo and she goes all 'freaky' the animation looked out of place, it looked so different to the rest of the movie, I later read that the animation for that scene had been 'outsourced' to a different company because they were running out of time and WETA (the main animation company used for the movie) just couldnt do all of it in time.
Hopefully they wont be doing that again.
All in all, I thought they did a fantastic job, I take my hat of to Peter Jackson and everyone who worked on the movie. The attention to detail was amazing.
