Suggestion on Linux

Could anyone help me how would i learn Linux through the Internet ? and also get a Software for free...coz i dont want to spend money for me to learn this...
How i would able to become an average user of linux ?
My only source is the internet..that's all...

Yes, linux is free, since it is open source. The best way to learn a lot about linux in a short time is to install gentoo.

The gentoo handbook is also worth taking a look at (some people that don't even use gentoo use the gentoo handbook as a reference)

allso when you have installed a distribution go to www.linuxquestions.org for some interesting reading there is allso lots of links for downloading linux as well,just remember dont forget you came hear first.
